Wanda Polisseni, renowned philanthropist and business entrepreneur, hosted fundraiser for David Koon, running to recapture his position as candidate for the 2012 New York State Assembly District 135 including the areas of East Rochester, Fairport, Penfield and Webster in Upstate New York region. Inspired by the social complexity and ever-changing dynamics of the diverse populations in Brazil, Dominic Barter founded The Restorative Circles. Originally the award-winning Restorative Justice pilot projects training program was devised for the Brazilian Justice Department, in collaboration with the UNESCO United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, including the Special Secretariat for Human Rights and State Secretaries for Education in Brazil. Dominic Barter consults globally with governments and community groups providing practice programs cultivating heart-based learning, healing and pathways to address challenging social and legal issues and to ease communications. Louise Slaughter and Mary Ho, President of the China Millennium Council enjoyed the spectacular extravaganza celebrating Jamaica’s 50th Year of Independence at the annual Rochester Jamaican Organization Gala held at the Grand Hyatt Regency Hotel. Honored for her pioneering humanitarian and entrepreneurship, Gloria Langston, owner of WDKX Radio, the first national African-American Radio broadcasting station celebrated Jamaica’s grand cultural history. Ms. Langston is founder of the Andrew Langston Center for Educational Excellence & the WDKX Minority Internship Program, providing student leadership training to advance education and broadcasting careers. Honored guests featured Jamaica native Garth Fagan, Tony Award Winning Choreographer of Lion King, City of Rochester Mayor Thomas Richards, Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and U.S. Consul General of Jamaica, Honorable Herman G. LaMont.
